Sizing & Fit Guide

Authentic Trachten is made to sit close and last for seasons. Take your measurements, then read across the chart that matches your piece. If you land between two sizes, go with the larger one — leather and wool ease slightly as you wear them, and never the reverse.

Measuring yourself, step by step

Waist

Wrap the tape around the slimmest part of your midsection, level the whole way round and comfortably close rather than pulled tight.

Hips & thigh

Feet together, measure the widest point of your seat, then the broadest part of your thigh.

Chest

Pass the tape beneath the arms over the fullest part of the chest, keeping it flat across your back.

Units matter

Each chart is labelled in either CM or INCH — keep to one unit as you compare.

Lederhosen & Bundhosen

Traditional leather breeches in short and knee lengths. Start from your waist to choose a size, then confirm the hip and thigh so they sit smoothly down the leg.

WaistHipThighLength

How to measure

These trousers grip at the waist and stay up without a belt. Take each measurement over thin clothing and match your biggest reading to the row below.

  • Waist — at your natural waistline, roughly where the trousers rest.
  • Hip — the fullest part of the seat, tape held level.
  • Thigh — the broadest point of a single thigh.
  • Length — from the waistband along the outer leg to your chosen hem — above the knee for Lederhosen, a touch below for Bundhosen.
  • Knee cuff & back length — listed as garment specs in the chart, not body readings.

Worth noting: Bundhosen follow the identical sizing to men’s Lederhosen, so this single chart covers both.

Men’s Trachten Shirt

Wear it beneath your Lederhosen or on its own. Size it from the collar and chest so it sits right across the shoulders.

CollarChestSleeveLength

How to measure

Lay a shirt you already like flat and measure that, or measure your body and allow a little extra room.

  • Collar — at the base of the neck, where the collar fastens.
  • Chest — the fullest part of the chest, just under the arms.
  • Shirt length — from the top of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
  • Sleeve length — from the shoulder seam along the arm to the cuff edge.

Trachten Waistcoats & Vests

Figures are taken flat across the garment in inches. Line your chest measurement up with the chest column for a neat, traditional cut.

ChestWaistArm holeLength

How to measure

A well-fitted waistcoat fastens without tugging at the front — begin from the chest, then follow with the waist.

  • Chest — the fullest part of the chest.
  • Waist — at your natural waist.
  • Length — from the shoulder to the lowest point.
  • Neck — the circumference at the base of the neck.
  • Bottom & arm hole — garment widths given for tailoring reference.

Chosen by waist and hip. Each row lines up the international, German, US and UK sizes, so follow your size across to convert.

WaistHipLength

How to measure

Go by waist and hip; if you’re buying the leather shorts, check the thigh as well.

  • Waist — at the slimmest part of your waist.
  • Hip — the fullest part of the hips, roughly 20 cm under the waist.
  • Thigh — shorts only — the widest part of the thigh.
  • Length — from the waistband down to the hem.

Women · Dirndl

Dirndl & Blouse

A dirndl is shaped through the bodice and laces up to fine-tune the fit. Pick your size from the waist and bust; the matching blouse uses the same EU sizing.

BreastWaistSkirt length

How to measure

Because the bodice laces, bust and waist are the key numbers. Skirt length is tailored to your request.

  • Breast — the fullest part of the bust.
  • Waist — at your natural waistline.
  • Skirt length — taken from the waist downward — pick 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm, or ask for a custom length.

Made-to-order length. The skirt is measured from the waist down and can be finished at 50, 60, 70 or 80 cm — or any length you specify. Just note your preferred drop at checkout.

Footwear

Bavarian Shoes (Haferl)

For the most accurate fit, measure each foot from heel to longest toe and match it against the foot-length column.

Foot length

How to measure

Foot length is the most dependable guide. Stand on a piece of paper, mark your heel and your longest toe, then measure the gap between the two marks.

  • Foot length — heel to longest toe, measured standing.
  • Good to know — check both feet later in the day and take the larger; round up if you fall between sizes.

Bavarian Leather Belt

Belt length matches your waist size. Pick the larger option if you’re between sizes or plan to wear it over Lederhosen.

Length

How to measure

Sizing tracks your waist. To gauge a belt you own, measure from the fold at the buckle to the hole you wear most often.

  • Length — from the buckle fold to your best-fitting hole — or just use your trouser waist size.
  • Good to know — go a size up if the belt sits over Lederhosen.

Accessories

Trachten Socks

Traditional Trachten socks are knitted with plenty of stretch and sit just under the knee. Length is shown in inches, measured along the base.

Cuff widthLeg lengthBase length

How to measure

They stretch to fit and stop below the knee, so the sizing is forgiving.

  • Cuff width — across the top of the cuff when relaxed.
  • Leg length — from the top of the cuff to the heel.
  • Base length — from heel to toe along the foot.
